For those new to our community or hearing about this for the first time, Give for Good Louisville is our region's largest online giving day, and it has become something truly special over the years. Organized by the Community Foundation of Louisville, this annual event brings our entire Kentuckiana community together for one incredible day of generosity.
This marks the 12th year of Give for Good Louisville, and what started as a great idea back in 2014 has turned into something truly remarkable. Since that first year, more than 172,000 people- our neighbors, friends, coworkers, and fellow community members- have come together to invest over $70 million in local organizations right here in our backyard.
We're talking about organizations across Jefferson, Oldham, Shelby, Spencer, and Bullitt Counties in Kentucky, plus Clark, Floyd, and Harrison Counties in Indiana. That's a lot of communities coming together as one!
If you participated last year, you were part of something incredible. Together, we raised $9.6 million for 591 local organizations in just one day. From small grassroots nonprofits working in our neighborhoods to larger established organizations, every dollar made a difference in someone's life.
But here's what's really exciting- this year we have 645 organizations participating. That's a record-breaking number, which tells you just how much our community values this day and how many amazing causes are working hard to make our region better.
One of the beautiful things about Give for Good Louisville is how inclusive it is. Whether you're passionate about supporting a small nonprofit that tutors kids in your neighborhood, want to help your local church with a community program, believe in your library, or want to support veterans' organizations, there's a place for every cause and every heart.
Nonprofit organizations, churches, governmental units, veterans' organizations, educational institutions, and many other types of organizations are all welcome to participate. It's not just about the big names you might recognize- some of the most impactful work happens through smaller organizations that might not have huge marketing budgets but are doing incredible work every single day.
When 67% of overall giving in the United States is led by individuals, giving days like Give for Good Louisville are integral to helping organizations sustain their missions and services. But it's more than just the numbers- it's about connection.
Give for Good Louisville isn't just a fundraising day; it's a community-building day. It's a chance for local organizations to connect with people who care about the same things they do. Maybe you'll discover a new organization doing work you're passionate about, or maybe you'll deepen your relationship with a cause you already support.
This Thursday, September 18th, you can visit the Give for Good Louisville website and browse through all 645 participating organizations. Whether you can give $5 or $500, every donation counts and every donor matters.
Can't give financially? That's okay too! Share the organizations you care about on social media, volunteer your time, or simply spread the word to friends and family. Sometimes the most valuable gift is helping connect the right people with the right cause.
