The Crystal Rogers case may be closed in the trial court, but the legal proceedings are far from over, and they're already showing signs of the delays legal experts predicted.

Joseph Lawson, Steve Lawson, and Brooks Houck have all indicated their intent to appeal their convictions to the Kentucky Court of Appeals, though none have officially filed their appeals yet. Houck filed his notice of intent to appeal on October 13th, while both Lawsons have indicated in previous court filings that they plan to appeal.

Now, Houck and Joseph Lawson have requested extensions to file their appeal briefs- the first formal step in what could be a years-long appeals process.
