Louisville International Airport announced Wednesday that it's adding three new nonstop routes starting this May, connecting Louisville travelers to Pittsburgh, Hartford, and Los Angeles.

The expansion is a big deal for Louisville's airport, which now offers a record 41 nonstop destinations. Two of these routes-Pittsburgh and Hartford- are brand new markets that weren't previously served nonstop from Louisville.

"This is a huge win for Louisville," Mayor Craig Greenberg said in Tuesday's announcement. He pointed out that new nonstop routes signal economic momentum and make the city more attractive to businesses considering expanding here.

Here's what you need to know about the new flights:

Pittsburgh will have service on Thursdays and Sundays starting May 7, with introductory fares from $39 one way. This route fills a significant gap- nearly 200 people travel between Louisville and Pittsburgh each day, making it one of the largest visitor markets for our region.

Hartford gets Monday and Friday flights starting May 29, with fares from $49 one way. Located between Boston and New York City, Hartford serves a metropolitan area of more than three million people. Airport officials say it was the largest population center in the eastern U.S. that Louisville didn't already serve nonstop.

Los Angeles rounds out the additions with Wednesday and Saturday service beginning May 6, starting at $99 one way. This gives Louisville travelers another West Coast option beyond Breeze's existing San Francisco route.

All three routes are summer seasonal, running through mid-September. The promotional fares are available for booking through February 3, so if you're planning a trip, you'll want to act relatively quickly.

Dan Mann, executive director of the Louisville Regional Airport Authority, credited Breeze with recognizing Louisville's market strength. Since Breeze first came to Louisville in 2021, the airline has steadily expanded its presence here. With today's announcement, Breeze now connects Louisville to nine cities, including Charleston, Fort Myers, New Orleans, Raleigh/Durham, San Francisco, and Tampa.

David Neeleman, Breeze's founder and CEO, said the new routes reflect the airline's commitment to Louisville and its strategy of adding nonstop service that delivers value to travelers.

For Louisville, it's another sign that the city's aviation connections continue to grow- something that matters whether you're planning a vacation, visiting family, or traveling for business.
