Wynter Wagoner, who had been missing from Rockcastle County since October 14, was located Friday evening inside a home in Silver Spring, Maryland- about 600 miles away.
Here's what happened: Montgomery County Police received a tip Friday afternoon that Wynter might be in their area. Officers, working with the U.S. Marshals Service, responded to a home in Gaithersburg, MD, around 5:52 p.m. and found Wynter inside with 37-year-old Christian Alexander Delgado.
Delgado was arrested without incident. The Rockcastle Sheriff's Office- in Kentucky- had already obtained a warrant charging him with kidnapping.
Wynter was taken to a local hospital for evaluation- a standard step in cases like this to make sure she's physically okay and to provide any necessary medical care.
Delgado is currently being held at the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit while he awaits extradition back to Kentucky to face the kidnapping charge.
What we don't know yet: Authorities haven't released details about the circumstances of Wynter's disappearance, how she ended up in Maryland, or what led to the tip that helped locate her. Those details will likely emerge as the case moves forward.
For now, what matters most is that after 73 days, Wynter has been found and is getting the care she needs.
