The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office announced Thursday that Sasha Borman, who was reported missing over the weekend and hasn't been seen for more than a week, has been found deceased.

"Due to the ongoing investigation, no further details regarding the circumstances of Ms. Borman's death are being released at this time," the sheriff's office stated. "Additional information will be made available as the investigation progresses and when it is appropriate to do so."

A mother who Was "getting her life back on track"

Just days ago, Sasha's family members were organizing search parties and desperately trying to piece together what happened to her. They described a woman who was excited about her future, working night shifts at Arvin Sango in Madison, and looking forward to spending time with her daughter.

"The last time I spoke with Sasha was last Monday, and she was at work," her cousin Savannah Bruners told me earlier this week. "She was talking about how excited she was for the weekend so that she could spend time with her daughter. She was talking about how close she was to getting her own space, just very excited with life."

The last time anyone could confirm seeing Sasha was when she clocked out of work on Wednesday of last week, October 1st.

Family had been searching on their own

In the days since Sasha's disappearance, her family and friends had taken matters into their own hands, organizing search parties that met at a local church before fanning out across Madison, Milton, and Carrollton.

"If you have time, go," Bruners had said. "If I'm off work, I'll be looking while I'm off work. I come to work, I do what I got to do, I go back out, and I start searching. And that's what we're all doing."

The family had expressed frustration with what they felt was an inadequate response from law enforcement, though the sheriff's office did conduct at least one K-9 search of a property earlier this week.

The investigation involved multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Indiana State Police, Kentucky State Police, City of Madison Police Department, Jennings County Sheriff's Office, Jefferson County Prosecutor's Office, Jefferson County Coroner's Office, and the Jefferson County Emergency Management Office.

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office extended its "deepest condolences to Ms. Borman's family and loved ones during this difficult time."

As the investigation continues, authorities have not released any information about where Sasha was found or the circumstances surrounding her death.
