Heart disease is the number 1 killer of women, causing 1 in 3 deaths each year. It’s a third of our mothers, sisters, friends, neighbors, coworkers- a third of the women we can’t bear to live without. So why don't we talk about this more?

Heart disease is the leading cause of death for women in America.

Not breast cancer. Not complications from pregnancy. Heart disease.

And yet most women don't know the symptoms. Most doctors don't recognize them. And women are dying because of it.

In this episode of Real Talk for Real Women, Dr. T and I sit down with Dr. Mrin Shetty, a cardiologist specializing in women's heart health, to talk about what's being missed- and what could save your life.

Here's what most people don't know: the "classic" heart attack symptoms- crushing chest pain, pain radiating down the left arm- are male symptoms. Women's heart attacks look different: sweating, fatigue, nausea, maybe some back pain. But they are symptoms that get dismissed as anxiety or stress. Symptoms that pregnant women feel pretty regularly.

We talk about risk factors women don't know they have- like depression, pregnancy, menopause, and what red flags to never ignore.

This conversation could literally save your life.
