When Savannah Bruners last talked to her cousin Sasha Borman, everything seemed normal. Actually, better than normal.
"She was at work, and she was talking about how excited she was for the weekend so that she could spend time with her daughter," Bruners recalled. "She was talking about how close she was to getting her own space, just very excited with life."
That was last Monday. Now, Sasha is missing, and her family is scrambling to find answers.
The Jefferson County, Indiana Sheriff's Office is asking anyone with information to come forward.
Sasha Borman is 36 years old, white, 5'7" and about 235 pounds with blonde hair and blue eyes. She was last seen on October 1st around 4:30 PM wearing a black tank top, blue jeans, brown boots, and a black head wrap. She has numerous tattoos and piercings.
According to her family, Borman clocked out of work at Arvin Sango- a factory in Madison, IN- on Wednesday morning after working the night shift, and that was the last anyone saw her.
The family told me they're worried and confused. They said, 'this isn't Sasha.'
"She was a mother. She was working at Arvin Sango. She was trying to get her life back on track. We were all extremely proud of her," Bruners said.
The idea that Sasha would just take off doesn't add up, her cousin told me, especially because she left behind a son who was sick.
"She has had moments where she doesn't want to be around people, but she would message at least one of us," Bruners explained, "Completely just taking off and leaving her son, who was sick, like really sick, is not in her character at all."

Feeling like they're not getting the help they need from law enforcement, the family has organized their own search parties. They've been meeting at a church and combing through different parts of Jefferson County- including Madison, Milton, and Carrollton- all places where Sasha was known to hang out.
Bruners told me the sheriff's office has been doing searches of its own, using K-9 investigators and equipment, but they haven't heard the results of those searches.
I have also tried to get in touch with someone from the sheriff's office, but was told all of the detectives were out handling the situation and no one could give me an update.
Right now, Sasha's family just wants answers. They want to know she's okay. They want to bring her home.
