Brooks Houck made 16 calls on July 8th, in the hours after a jury found him guilty of murder and tampering and physical evidence in the Crystal Rogers case. Those calls were to his mom Rosemary Houck, brother Nick Houck, sister Rhonda McIlvoy and girlfriend Crystal Maupin.

Brooks Houck calls sister Rhonda from jail hours after Crystal Rogers guilty verdict

Each call cost them- and they had to enter credit card information at the beginning of the call for it to be patched through. Of the 16 outgoing calls, eight were answered.

That incudes a call with Nick Houck, Brooks' older brother. It is the first time we've heard from Nick since just months after Rogers' disappearance in 2015 when he was fired from the Bardstown Police Department and his police interview tape was released.

Nick Houck has been named an unindicted co-conspirator in the case. During Brooks' June 2025 trial, Nick Houck's former girlfriend Amber Bowman took the stand. She told the jury she and Nick had plans to move on Friday July 3rd, the last day Crystal was seen alive.

"That morning Nick said he was going to help Brooks at a rental property and I thought that created tension because we had a lot to do," Bowman told the jury.

She said she tried to call him 15 times between 11:43 a.m. on July 3rd and and 10:49 a.m. on July 4th. She also said she went to the house they were moving into multiple times during that 24 hour period and never saw him there.

Bowman told the jury he showed up to the house at some point in the morning of July 4th and told her he had been helping Brooks the day before. She said she didn't ask any further questions.

During cross examination, Brooks' attorney Brian Butler asked Bowman this, "He didn't show up covered in blood or anything?" She answered, "no". He asked, "or covered in mud, like he'd been digging in the ground?" She said, "no."

Rosemary Houck, Nick and Brooks' mom, has also been named an unindicted co-conspirator in the case.

Prosecutor Shane Young presented witness testimony in court that Rosemary had a conversation with one of Houck's former employees asking for help “getting rid” of Crystal.

Danny Singleton worked for Houck during the summer of 2015. He told the jury Rosemary came to a job site where he was worked a few weeks before Crystal disappeared and asked him if "he knew someone willing to kill Crystal." He told her there were people who would kill Crystal, "for the right amount of money."

The prosecutor also alleged Rosemary "openly manifested contempt for Crystal Rogers" and "seemed to take pleasure in Crystal's disappearance."

She was also accused of using a burner phone during the time period when Crystal went missing because her personal phone records showed no activity between June 16, 2015 and August 4, 2015.

Neither Nick Houck or Rosemary Houck have been indicted in this case.
