Former Kentucky Governor Matt Bevin was arrested Thursday evening-while working as an extra on a movie set in Bourbon County.
According to a press release from the Bourbon County Sheriff's Office, dispatch got a call around 5:30 p.m. saying Bevin was in the county filming a movie and might have an active warrant out for his arrest. Deputies checked and confirmed it: Bevin had an outstanding warrant out of Jefferson County Circuit Court on a contempt charge, with no bail set. Deputies went to the set, took him into custody without incident, and booked him into the Bourbon-Nicholas County Regional Detention Center. The sheriff's office noted Bevin was "very cooperative".
The warrant traces back to Bevin's ongoing divorce and child-support dispute in Jefferson Family Court, where Judge Angela Johnson had ordered him to turn over financial documents and appear at hearings related to support for his adopted son, Jonah Bevin.
It's the latest twist in a legal saga that's dragged on for months-this same contempt fight led a judge to sentence Bevin to 60 days in jail back in March, over his failure to produce financial records in the case.
