Kentucky Representative Thomas Massie is leading the bipartisan push for Justice Department officials to release the files from the Jeffrey Epstein case.
Earlier this week, Massie teamed up with a democrat from California to file what is known as a discharge petition. It would allow any member of the House to force legislation to the floor if a majority of House members sign it.
By Wednesday, he had the support of at least six Republicans, according to the New York Times. If all democrats agree to sign the petition he will have more than enough votes.
The Speaker of the House recessed Congress early yesterday for a month to avoid dealing with the Epstein issue.

Mr. Speaker, the American people won’t forget. My legislation isn’t going away. It’ll be right here when we return and I’ll force the vote using a discharge petition. pic.twitter.com/SB7SJ14clS
Thursday he posted on social media that his bill "isn't going away".
President Donald Trump responded on social media, calling him the "worst Republican Congressman" who's an "Embarrassment to Kentucky."
