Ronald Exantus was released from prison earlier this week, after serving seven years of a 20-year sentence in connection with the murder of a 6-year-old boy. Now, the White House is asking questions about the release.

Karoline Leavitt wrote on social media, "It's wholly unacceptable for a child killer to walk free."

According to court documents, Exantus broke into a Versailles family's home in 2015, and, using a knife from their kitchen, fatally stabbed 6-year-old Logan Tipton. He had been asleep when the attack started.

Exantus was found not guilty of murder by reason of insanity, but he was convicted on assault charges. A judge sentenced him to 20 years in prison, but after serving just a fraction of that time, he was released, according to the Kentucky Department of Corrections. He is now on supervised parole until June of next year.

The killing happened on Dec. 7, 2015, when Exantus drove from Indianapolis to the Tiptons’ home. According to court documents, it was completely random and he had no connection to the family.
