The Grayson County Sheriff's Office is calling a recent arrest a major win for safety in the rural Kentucky community.

45-year-old Juan Chavez-Trevizo was arrested Wednesday at a home on Cave Mill Road in Leitchfield. The arrest was the result of collaboration between the U.S. Marshal's Office, Grayson County Sheriff's Office, and Leitchfield Police Department.

The U.S. Marshal's Office had requested assistance from local law enforcement after discovering Chavez-Trevizo was staying in the area. According to authorities, Chavez-Trevizo was in the United States illegally at the time of his arrest.

He is facing multiple serious felony charges from Louisiana, including:

  • Three counts of second-degree rape
  • Two counts of molestation of a child under 13
  • Four counts of molestation of a child with controlled supervision of the victim
  • One count of indecent behavior with a child victim under 13

Two other individuals were also arrested at the same Cave Mill Road location during the operation, though details about their charges were not immediately available.

"On behalf of the Sheriff's Office and the citizens of Grayson County, we are grateful for our federal partners for removing this individual from our streets and stopping him from potentially perpetrating on other child victims," said Sheriff Norman Chaffins.

Chavez-Trevizo is currently booked into the Grayson County Detention Center and awaiting extradiction.
