Grieving mother says online cruelty deepens her loss as she remembers Trooper Hayden Phillips
Robin Phillips has been told to stay off social media. Her friends keep warning her about what some people are writing about her son, Kentucky State Police Trooper Hayden Phillips, who was killed in the line of duty on Sept. 28.
"They're saying that they're glad the cop is dead," she said. She teared up as she repeated the painful posts. "Very, very hurtful and negative things."
For a mother already struggling, she said, it has made the loss worse. "It deepens the hurt that you're already going through because you know that you know your child is way more than what they speculate them to be," she said.
So she wants people to know the rest of him.
Robin describes the last time she talked to her son, the painful week since she got the text about the shooting and the man she wants the community to remember.
